It's nearly midnight and I havn't sewn a thing....I've been baking for the fete tomorrow. I've packed some cards and gathered all the stuff I need to take.... I have about 6 bikkies left to ice then I will be making some hessian sacks for the old fashion field games. I have to sew press studs on some purses and some elastic on headbands. I think there are a million things I have forgotten but I will count my lucky stars if all this gets done and I have some sleep for tomorrow... Wish me luck

Tonight I finished the last applique block for Isaac's boy story quilt. I need to cut 2 applique blocks and 1 stitchery to sizr and peice them into the half done blocks. You don't know how excited I am to be at this stage. After the top is all peiced together there is a little rocket to applique. I have the backing and wadding so hoping to make more progress over this weekend.
I also got 3 of the Life is beautiful stitcheries finished...

Sick, Away and Finally

So much has been happening here since the Princess turned 5. It has been a constant of parties, sickness and Blah…Not at lot of sewing….but a lot of nothing….

We have had a party nearly every weekend that either invovled a 5 year old or a fancy dress theme. Erin (our neice) had a E 21st so Rhiannon and I went as Eyeballs (big circles of cardboard and lots of white spray paint) (I love the smell of spray paint!!!) Geoff was an Electriction (old work shirt and embroidery machine) Barbour’s Dodgy Electricals 1800 DODGY and Isaac was ELMO….. A fun night was had by all

The school holidays took the kids and I on a little trip to Junee (have figured out one of my close blogger friends lived in Junee and knows my family!!) for my Aunties 50th. A medevial affair…more costumes… a Fair Lady for Rhiannon, Robin Hood for Isaac (he was the cutest man in tights) and a Wenchs outfit for me.

I got to catch up with my family and spend time with my Mum who I hadn’t seen since Christmas. It was nice to have Mummy around although she caught the dreaded lurgy and is still really sick…

Today I got to do a little sewing…Yay… FNSI saw me hand stitching blocks for Isaac’s Boy Story quilt so I got three blocks sewn up today.

Also managed to finish off Vanessa’s santa sack. I just need to get the pressies organised and pop it in the post.She might start thinking I’ve forgotten her!!!! here's a sneak peak

My Baby Girl turned 5 Today

My little Big girl Rhiannon turned 5 today. We had a funfilled day of Playgroup, Shopping, Food and Presents. She got a little spoilt. Had her nails painted in one of those nail shops. Sat down at the food court for lunch (she normally has to eat as she walks) Shopped for her self and even got to play in the playground at the shops.....
Today was day two of cakes and she is having a party on saturday...

Our house has been crazy all week. Isaac has turned into the devil...Standing on tables, chairs, lounges and beds. Oneday he may fall and learn a lesson. Every cupbord that he can open and that has stuff in it he empties. The place looks like a bomb has gone off and there not much that can be done because as soon as you fix it he is unfixing it..whilst scraming at the top of his lungs....

I have managed to get some of the ruined hexi's replace and sent (to avoid the same thing happening) so I sent to Edda for May and Hannewolff for June

All that and tomorrow we have Rhiannons soccer and on Sunday our preschool has a Bunnings BBQ with not enough parent volunteers so my hour is most probably going to turn into 3 or 4 hours...but it will benefit the preschool and Rhiannons education so I shouldn't winge!!!!

Over the weekend I spent my time making beautiful hexi's for my April, MAy and June parthers for the inchy swap and for my April swap partner in the forum flowerswap and ARGGGGGGGGGGGHHHH when my Dad left this morning he threw his washing in the laundry and I have picked up the flowers with the washing and now they are ruined.....................................................................

Today was a good friday indeed...Other than fighting this stomach bug that has been going around today was good. I managed to get all the little bits sewn together for isaac's boy story blocks...so now I just have to do two stitcheries and about 5 Applique blocks to do. I have put another block together aswell.

Rhiannon has gone to her Aunt's for their annual good friday sleepover, Isaac is in bed and Geoff has gone to watch the footie so the house is mine. The plan is to get all the applique block peices cut out and stuck down so they can be portable and trace a couple of other things out.Oh and make a cushion for my neice Sian out of some fluffy stuff they gave me!!! She has out grown the fluff and the colours....I'll fix her....

so ~~Hope to post some pics later of the progress~~Here's the pics of last nights efforts ...I'm off to get a cup of tea watch the end of better homes then it's on to the cutting....

This week I finally got block 2 in the 'A Wonderful Life' BOM that my friend in Cairns Gill has callenged me to. So now I eagerly await block 3 The challange is to only use stash!!

I also managed to get another of the 'Boy Story" blocks done for Isaac's quilt. I only have a little more to do and one little stitchery and another could be done this weekend...It's FNSI tonight but somehow I don't think I will get it done.

And exciting exciting the IPS guy delivered this

Which I won for naming a quilt on Robin Quilt's blog!! She made a quilt and wanted it named so I said Lattice Patch and won!!!! 28 male fq's no pink no flowers just boy stuff!!!!! I love it.....

This is my little collection of flowers which is the ones I have recieved from both the swaps I'm in and the ones I have made my self. I have seen a nice quilt in the Vingette mag that I would like to make out them. There is 41 flowers on this pile and the 'single' quilt in the mag has 149 flowers and I think 57 white embroidered connecting hexis........2 deliemmas 1 is that I would want a double or queen to go on my own bed.....which means a heap more flowers and deliemma 2 is I have had this crazy idea of making my Aunt a quilt for her 50th birthday....in which I would use 50 flowers and add another round of green then a round of white.... now that's all good and well but obviously I would have to take out all the ones I have recieved from you and all the green ones leaving me with only 22 lovely little flowers. I think it is going to take me years to get my own hexi madness quilt!!!! What would you do????

Challanged and a finish for the boy

My Bf in Cairns challanged me to a BOM quilt and to use only stash..here is february' block and yes it was finished in Feb!!!

It's a Natalie bird design called 'A Wonderful Life' and this block is called 'Encourage Love'

In Feb I also finally got one of Isaac's boy story blocks together. I have neally all the fabric cut out and just need to finish 3 more of the little stitcheries and 5 big applique blocks

Just need to get the BOM mojo back and keep going to get it done!!!!

January Finishes and three down

I have finished my coin quilt, washed it and now waiting to give it a little press before a pic. Finally. I put the top and back together in a weekend then took two months to finish it!! AND I had all the stuff.... No excuse really.

Today I also finished a little bear for Luckys Huggle drive. He turned out cute...a little wonky but he is worthy of a huggle. I also finished stuffing a chicken that I had 3 parts stuffed (a fair few months ago) just need to get some more done and they will be heading over to Adelaide...

We are waiting patiently to go to Adelaide

and my last finish which is the best one for me is a dummy clip for Isaac (hope now he will just sleep through) we lost his other one at Australia Zoo just after new year. I have put it off and thought todays the day

Butterflies and Hexi's

Today I recieved my feb hexi from Elizabeth Kenny. Elizabeth used fabric that reminds her of water and our gardens need lots of water. She also sent me a butterfly that will definatley find it's way into my garden. I think I will sew it onto the centre that way it won't get lost in the relm that is!!!

The last of Advent and final gifts

Sorry for the delay in me not updating my advent...SLACK is the man word but I think I did pretty good to get that many days in a row!!!!
Whilst away I had minimal access to the web. Well not really but it was hard to try and upload pics,wrangle kids and not take up too much time on the oldies computer.
So here are the final days

This is the WONDERFUL Day 25 gift that Jeanette made for the littlies.
There is two little pillows and it has been used lots since we've been home to lay on in the lounge to watch the new movies they got for christmas. WOW thank you so much..

These are my comfie slippers that I have been wearing around the house since I got them. They are a little big but so comfie and I love them.

I loved being apart of this years advent and really want Jeanette(banksia Grange) To know how truley grateful I am to her for all the wonderful gifts the Kids and I recieved. Thay had so much fun playing along.

Broken Rule means no present

Today Rhiannon broke the first rule of the christmas tree (don't touch) She know's the rules so she didn't get to open her present today (I will keep it until christmas day) But Isaac and I got to open ours in front of her..... I got a sholder bag and Isaac got a bigger hammer. He had fun beating Rhiannon with his present!!!!

Tomorrow evening we fly to brisbane so today when I am meant to be packing and cleaning I am tracing out the stitcheries on another quilt!!! I will never learn but I am going to get this done over the holidays. I have a few other little things to take as well and my hexis
So I better get to it and I have asked Santa for a Round Tuit for christmas. I hope I get one................

Day 19 I got a 4 place mats (which we had to use at dinner), Rhiannon got a doll and Isaac got a dice. All of todays pressies were handmade. Thanks so much Jeanette. This is so much fun. Isaac is getting the drift of how to open a present now.

Tomorrow I will add pics to all the posts that I havn't out the pics up for. This last weekand a half have been crazy. We are off to Mum's at Sippy Downs on wednesday so it's going to be a crazy couple of days getting thins cleaned up, packing, finishing off gifts nad organising things to take to do!!!!

Day 18 of advent

Today I got 3 fat quarters (niceeee) Rhiannon got Icecream bubble blowers (they were a big hit) and Isaac got more floor tiles these ones have animals. We had some fun making boxes out of them and Rhiannon came up with the idea of making them into a pinata which she hit with a fake flower. We all had a giggle it was pretty funny.

Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

Went to Ebony's party today so the bubs were tired when we got home. Had the chance to start on their christmas stocking's... yeah I know only a week to go and I start a new project!!! They are only simple and I will have them finished tomorrow!!!

Rhiannon got a little giraffe, Isaac got a little dog and I got some Fairy embroidery scissors. Rhainnon told me that's what she was going to buy me for christmas... wonder what she'll get now??

I finally played around with shirring elastic today and I tell you what I think it may be addictive!!! I made a skirt and two dresses. The skirt and one dress is for Rhiannon and I made a dress for her friend Ebony for her birthday tomorrow. they have matching dresses. I had to ring my backdoor neighbour at the shop to ask if they had elastic so I could do some more tomorrow!!! if you havn't tried it go do it......

Day 13 of advent

Today our gifts were seam Rippers for me, lip balm for Rhiannon (her very own lipstick!!!) and Isaac got some mini floor tiles.

This is the mother load Isaac hualed in at his party on saturday!!!

He got to little bikes and two trucks the same!!

I didn't get to do the FNSI cause I was busy making my little man a cake. Does that count?

My construction cake (I don't do cakes!!)

Going to get to it now and do some much needed therapy I haven't sewn a stitch since last wednesday so I think I may be having withdrawals. Just going to try to finish off the squares for the That Girl, That quilt quilt along (which I am sure has finished)

The house has been a buzz of people due to Isaac's birthday party....so i havn't been on the computer to let you all know what we got in our advent!!!!

Day 11 Rhiannon and I got aprons and Isaac got a felt teddy..the right size to hang onto while he rides his bike...

Day 12 Rhiannon got a little dog and Isaac got a little cheater and I got a scrapbook/card kit.

Banksia Grange has come up with some brilliant gifts. I had a hard enough time doing it for one person...thanks Jeanette.

today I got a frog shopping bag, Rhiannon got a little flower pot photo/memo holder and Isaac got a very loud squeaky Blue martian looking ball. Thanks again so much to Jeanette.....
I think one of the kids has hidden the bag......can't find it any where but we did have extra people help us clean up!!!!

Today Rhiannon got a headband that is black stretchy lace. It's the first one she will actually wear properly... I got a weaved ribbon tissue holder. It's very nicely done in blue and white ribbons. Thank you. And Isaac got a litlle rubber car that he took in the bath... You are the best giftie Jeanette your grandson must love his stocking every year.. Thanks again ~~and I will post a pic after I sleep~~

Today we opened our presents late. Rhiannon was a little naughty so I punished her abit.
We recieved today a frog tape measure for me, 4 mini hello kitty hair clips for Rhiannon and a cement mixer for Isaac.

DAy 5 of advent

Day 5 brought us a little doll for Rhiannon and I got some cat charm squares. Isaac had two number 6 parcels so they both went behind the back and Rhiannon choose left... in the lift hand was a little gold parcel that had a teddy bear cushion cover.

Day 4 of advent I got a card of metal snaps (needed some for the purses I have to make) Rhainnon got some chalk (she drew about 30 rainbows today) and Isaac got some peek-A-boo blocks (he went and got the train that we have an put them in Smart Boy)

Today Rhiannon and i got little stuffed bags with machine embroidered butterflies on them and Isaac got a bang bang!!! A fabric hammer!! We clled it a wacker cause he kept hitting things and giggling.

Thanks for our day 3 gifts we love them. This has been the best advent swap so far.

I am working on my monday list tonight hopefully I will be able to mark some stuff off tomorrow

I was up until 3am this morning peicing, finishing embroidery and sandwiching Ty's quilt....I did one line of ditch stitch before retiring!!!! Plan to get it done today and hopefully spend the night on the lounge binding it...Oh it would be sooooo nice to have it finished and be able to take it to brunch tomorrow...hopeful...

Stitching On The Lake

On the 23rd of October I treated myself to a day away from the kids and went to Sylvia and Fionas SOTL Day. From 9.30 to 4.30 I ate, laughed, chatted, drank tea and stitched....What a wonderful day...Did I miss the kids? NUP

Swanky just got cut to make my version of a stacked coin quilt. Birdie I am going to use in the That Girl quilt along. The reds are for a quilt I want to make my Red and white mad Brother. I only need about 9 more red fat q's and 14 white/cream fq's

My little great nephew TY was born last night at 10.36 weighing around 5 pound and 45cm long. He is 6 weeks early......we are all a tad excited....My brother-in-law rang about 9am this morning to tell us the news but due to the wonderful world of facebook we knew already and his bubble got a little deflated!!!!

I only have one block of Ty's quilt finished but it's ok I still have 6 weeks till he is due!!!!!

I have finished with all my F.R.I.E.N.D.S Swap gifts!!!! and I posted it off today. Look out Lisa it will be dropped off by plane soon!!! Wonder if it's going by air means that....they will just chuck it out and Suprise there it is on Lisa'a door step.... Really that is her address how many times does one person have to be told?

I have lots of pics of my recent crafty goodness but every thing is either a swap gift or a birthday pressie or christmas present so I can't really show you anything. Maybe i may be able to jig a few pics so they are sneak peaks.

Dress up day

Today was the end of term party and dress day at Rhiannons Playschool.

She went as Tinkerbell. I made the dress a couple of weeks ago after she had watched one of the tinkerbell movies. There is no way I am paying 48 dollars for a costume so I bought a pattern that i can adapt for a few things and this is what came out

Completely Finished

I am hap hap happy to say that the quilt for Isabels wedding this weekend is completely finished. I spent this afternoon sewing on the labels while Rhiannon was at school. This has to be a first for me to have a quilt done with a few sleeps left!!! Normally I am doing it the night before.... what am I going to do on friday night?? I have lots to get done.

Robyn (Farmnan) has made me a custom card to go with the quilt. I'm sure my friend Isabel will be very happy with their present and card. And thanks Robyn for the beautiful card.

Got motivated

Last night with the stormy weather I got a little motivated.....
After the epic phone call (in which I finished the blanket stitch on the last heart block) from my BF in Cairns I got all the blocks sewm together, the boarders on the backing joined and it all pinned together.
Now that's motivation.....
The wedding is 3 weekends and i don't want to be sitting up late to finish the binding or sew on the label!!!
Today I hope to start quilting it. It will only be straight lines so hope to get it done and have the whole thing finished before next weekend........

Wriggle Wriggle

I have 3 weeks until my friends wedding and the quilt is no where near being done......
I have about 5 weeks to get my FRIENDS swap stuff together and posted........

and I have a split thumb which is making it hard to stitch.... I am allergic to cardboard boxes I think. Opening them all night at work really dries my hands out and they end up cracked and bleeding....it HURTS....

Hexi Flower swap

We all have hexi fever on the forum. Some nice flowers are starting to poop up just in time for spring.. The Green and white one is the one i recieved from Jeanette (Banksia Grange) and the blue one is the one i sent to Bec (Purpled2). They are very pretty and addictive.

Thoughts are popping up every time I look at mine as to what they will be. Once a few more are collected and I add some of my own I will start on my masterplan 1 ( i have a few)

The Mogo Zoo and The Beach

Monday we headed off to the Mogo Zoo. While we were looking at the otters a Asian lady from Sinapore asked Geoff if she could hold Isaac. Geoff let her and her kids took some pics. A little while later she came back with a Kangaroo toy for Isaac to say thanks. Rhiannon saw what was going on and came over asking "where's mine" in one of those whinning voices. We told her the lady got it for Zacy man. She got over it and off we went our next stop the white lions

So we spent a few hours wandering areound the zoo until Daddy's leg could no longer handle it and we were all pretty hungry. We went back to the Bay and got the making for lunch and dinner and then headed back for a little lunch and a rest.
That afternoon we headed for the beach to build sandcastles.
Tuesday we went down to Moyrua for a look and we were going to have lunch but I started to feel sick so we headed back to be nearer the house. We went to the beach for some more sandcastle building and shell hunting.

there was also some window cleaning and i got to do alittle stitching. Not enough though

The Coast

We are lucky enough to have family who have a coast house at Malua Bay which is on the South Coast near Batemans Bay. They let us use it for a few days. On the Sunday we arrived they took us down to Broulee to spot some whales that were playing just off the rocks (no good pics but so exciting)

Friday Night Sew In was on the 20th and because we were going to the coast on the sunday it was all about preparation for me. I am going to a wedding at the end of september so I got some of the quilt done. I got all the applique blocks done and the 5 other blocks stitched on the machine. Have to blanket stitch all the hearts and leaves down. They are meant to be needle turn but NT and I don't seem to get along. I think I'm a blanket stitch junkie!!!!!

Its the same as the ugly Quilt but the colour has change the look. The original in the book are in a light green and the hearts are 4 different burgandays. I must say I am liking this one much more than the last!!!!

I also traced out about 30 of these little hexagon christmas decorations. Maybe jumping ahead of myself what was i thinking I would have loads of spare time?

So then after I had done all of them I thought Thats not going to be enough so i got the first applique block of Isaac's Boy Story cut and applifixed down. This is also meant to be NT but as I did Rhiannons Fairyland quilt blanket stitch I'm going to do this one the same.

Craft Show buys!!!

These are Rhiannons buys from the

Craft Spot stall (except the scrapbook paper thats for a friend)

Some of them she said she got for me!!! What a sweetie. She once again picked some nice terial. Green is her favourite colour!

I finally found the Florini fusible soluble tearaway stabiliser which sounds like it contradicts itself!!! I will give it ago hope its good cause i found it a bit expensive. Also got some Nikki Tervo buttons. The dolphin I am going to use on Isaac's quilt. The green and orange fat quarters i got for his quilt aswell and the red for the one i would like to do for my brother which has 25 different shades of red!!

And so daddy didn't feel left out we got him this teatowel. He had a laugh!!!

Really we didn't spend that much or get a lot.

After leaving the fair we went to Maccas for lunch then we went to Calico Patch @ Gold Creek where I got some of the other stuff I wanted but couldn't find at the Craft Fair.

I got the sewline Glue pen that i wanted and 30cm of three fabrics for Isaac's quilt. I think I only have a few more colours to get then I 'm sure I will have to many fabrics. I reall y need to start the big applique panels. Only have 2 years left to get it done!!!! (took me 12 months to make Rhiannon's fairy land quilt she got when she was 3 1/4).

So that's my craft fair experience for 2010.

Craft Show

Last saturday Rhiannon and I went to the craft show. I was a little disapointed with as it was nowhere as good a previous years but we had a good girlie day anyway.

This is Nikki Tervo's stall. She was the lady who did the trunk show i went to. It was a tad bit busy but we got some nice buttons.

Nikki brought all the stuff hanging on the walls to the trunk show the night before. She only had an hour to get it all back up on saturday morning before the doors opened!!!

Rhiannon found a stall called 'Craft Spot'. She spent about $14 here and got a bag full of stuff. She even bought me some stuff!!

I went to a trunk show!!!

A trunk show is like show and tell!!
My back door neighbour works at one of our local patchwork shops Calico Patch at Gold Creek. She invited me to come out to the shop for a trunk show by Nicky Tervo. She has the nicest handmade ceramic buttons and some beautiful patterns. I was good a only got two patterns and I also got a door prize. She gave me a nice ceramic brooch that says "Fabric Addict". I had my camera but didn't take a pic. I will take some of her stand at the craft fair tomorrow. Renny and I are off to the 'craftup show' in the morning. Isaac is staying home with Daddy and were having some girlie time.
I will post some pics and my (hopefully) bargin buys tomorrow arvo or sunday.......

Oh and Poppy wants a dolphin, Grandma wants a dolphin, Kate wants a dolphin!!!!! Isaac should get one too I guess. I may open a dolphin processing plant... one of the nice kind....

So here's Seona-Kai's dolphin. She is 5 tomorrow. Renny and Isaac are going to her Dress-up party tomorrow (which reminds me make Ren more dress up outfits) and she's lucky to be getting a dolphin. I made it tonight. I'm good at that. Geniene has a great idea "let's make a quilt for ______ It's their birthday in a week! I can do it! 3am just a little more 4am oh it's finished now to sleep... lays down... can't sleep... did I do? is that done? oh time to get up..... Geniene dosn't enjoy herself cause she is so tired... If you know me personnally i know your saying "Yep that's Geniene"

The Ugly Quilt

The Ugly Quilt

This quilt was originally going to be for my Gran but now I'm not sure!! We (my hubbie and I) have nick named it the ugly quilt.... He said it was an old peoples quilt or 'Something' his Mum would have made..

So finally the 'Hearts and Strings' quilt is finished. It's about a metre square.

When I found the pattern I wanted to make it for my friends wedding in september. The orignial pattern is in maroon and green. For Isabel I'm going to do it in burgandy and a dark green which I think may look better. The fabric I used to make 'The Ugly Quilt' i got from spotties for $2 per metre so in all it didn't cost to much.

I think I must be getting old cause I like it?!?!

I'm gonna be an Aunty again!!! Well great Aunt but I always was the Great Aunt!!!!

Dee Dee the Dolphin has a Friend

But not for long...............

Whipped up another dolphin tonight for our Little Friend Miss Molly who turned one today. She's having a little party tomorrow.

This is Molly's Dee Dee hanging out with Rhiannon's Dee Dee. Molly's is the one with the flower in her hair. Rhiannon wants to swap......She likes the Spot's cause Spot is our fish and well a dolphin is a fish........(those are her words)

I'll try to get a happy snap of Miss Molly and her Dee Dee (if she is not too busy bieng the party girl)
